Ancaster Avalanche Girls Shut Out Hunger

The Anaster Avalanche Girls Hockey Association got into the true spirit of the season this year with the first annual Hockey for Hunger Challenge in Support of the Good Shepherd Food Bank.

Lead by Clayton Boxall's Pee Wee B team and sponsored by OASIS Spa and Lounge, the Hockey for Hunger Challenge collected over 500 non-perishable food items to help stock the shelves at the all too busy Hamilton food bank. Each player and their families donated one or more food items per game over the course of the Challenge, with the winning team receiving a team pizza party and bragging rights until next year.

Special thanks go out to the girls on Novice Maroon team, Novice White team, PeeWee A team and Boxall's Pee Wee B team for their enthusiasm and generosity.in making the Hockey for Hunger Challenge such a success.

It was really amazing to see these young hockey players stepping up to help out those less fortunate during the holiday season. OASIS was honoured to be involved with this worthy cause and we look forward to next year's Challenge!

VIVA LAS VEGAS!!

OASIS Spa and Lounge was well represented at the International Spa Association Conference last week at the Palazzo Resort and Casino in beautiful Las Vegas.

The conference provided a great opportunity to explore the latest trends and products in the spa industry, invigorate our sense of innovation and wonder and reconnect with colleagues and partners.

Special thanks to Jennifer Lynn of the Harmon Hotel, Spa and Residences at the new Las Vegas City Centre, Mindy Terry at Creative Spa Concepts and Rhonda Wilson, Executive Editor of DAYSPA Magazine for stimulating and inspiring discussions.

Its funny how good ideas just seem to take on a life of their own. Remember our Nails and Cocktails fundraiser in support of Sandra Eppings' team in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer (see earlier posts). Well our media release caught the eye of the editors at DAYSPA Magazine, "the" pre-eminent international Spa industry magazine, and spawned this month's feature article on the Power of Pink!!

In the article, Tamarra, along with other leading spa owners, discusses innovative ideas for partnering with clients to promote Breast Cancer awareness and raise funds to battle a disease that affects far too many women and their families. We are honoured to have inspired and contributed to this important article!

OASIS Supports the Country 95.3 Rack Pack and the Weekend to End Breast Cancer

OASIS Spa and Lounge, is proud to support the fundraising efforts of the Country 95.3 “Rack Pack” for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer 60km walk that they will be participating in September 5 to 7, 2008.
The “Rack Pack”, including local radio personalities Lea Cater, Sam Cook and Elvira Caria, raised over $17,000 for Breast Cancer Research through their 6-hour on-air “Broad-cast” this past Sunday, and over $43,000 to date!!!
During the “Broad-cast”, OASIS owner Tamarra Hay stopped by the studio to present the Rack Pack with over $1000 worth of OASIS Spa Gift Certificates to use to encourage listener donations to this very worthy cause.

CHTV ON LOCATION AT OASIS SPA AND LOUNGE

Lights...Camera...Action!! OASIS Spa and Lounge proudly welcomed CHTV and Lesley Stewart to the spa earlier this summer. The ever popular CH personality was at OASIS to talk to owner Tamarra Hay about our innovative social approach to the spa experience. Special men’s spa packages, group spa days and girls night spa parties were all on the agenda.
And of course a little relaxation was in order.....nothing like doing the weather from the spa lounge!!!

Breast Cancer Fundraiser at OASIS Spa and Lounge a Huge Success!!

OASIS Spa and Lounge, 2008 winner of the Hamilton's Best Spa award, and cancer survivor Sandra Epping partnered to host a hugely successful Nails and Cocktails fundraiser on Thursday, May 1, 2008, in support of the Weekend to End Breast Cancer.

OASIS Spa and Lounge owner Tamarra Hay and Ms. Epping hosted an evening for 40 women at this sold out event. Guests were treated to luxurious manicures followed by gourmet appetizers and cocktails in OASIS' award winning licensed wine lounge, with all proceeds going to support breast cancer research, clinical care and survivorship programs at Princess Margaret Hospital.
OASIS Spa and Lounge is proud to support Ms. Epping in her fundraising efforts for such an important and personal cause. Her journey with breast cancer started when she was just a few years old; her mom Audrey Matters was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 31. That was in 1969 and they just didn't know as much as they do today about fighting breast cancer. Her mom died November 1, 1972 at the age of 34. She had just turned 6 years old. When Ms. Epping was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 36 in 2003 she knew that she had a better chance of beating breast cancer than her mom had. She had a lumpectomy, 6 months of chemotherapy and 5 weeks of radiation. This summer it will be 5 years since she was diagnosed! Ms. Epping is a survivor. Ms. Epping is walking in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer and OASIS Spa and Lounge is proud to support her.
