OASIS Spa and Lounge, 2008 winner of the Hamilton's Best Spa award, and cancer survivor Sandra Epping partnered to host a hugely successful Nails and Cocktails fundraiser on Thursday, May 1, 2008, in support of the Weekend to End Breast Cancer.
OASIS Spa and Lounge owner Tamarra Hay and Ms. Epping hosted an evening for 40 women at this sold out event. Guests were treated to luxurious manicures followed by gourmet appetizers and cocktails in OASIS' award winning licensed wine lounge, with all proceeds going to support breast cancer research, clinical care and survivorship programs at Princess Margaret Hospital.
OASIS Spa and Lounge is proud to support Ms. Epping in her fundraising efforts for such an important and personal cause. Her journey with breast cancer started when she was just a few years old; her mom Audrey Matters was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 31. That was in 1969 and they just didn't know as much as they do today about fighting breast cancer. Her mom died November 1, 1972 at the age of 34. She had just turned 6 years old. When Ms. Epping was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 36 in 2003 she knew that she had a better chance of beating breast cancer than her mom had. She had a lumpectomy, 6 months of chemotherapy and 5 weeks of radiation. This summer it will be 5 years since she was diagnosed! Ms. Epping is a survivor. Ms. Epping is walking in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer and OASIS Spa and Lounge is proud to support her.
