The Anaster Avalanche Girls Hockey Association got into the true spirit of the season this year with the first annual Hockey for Hunger Challenge in Support of the Good Shepherd Food Bank.
Lead by Clayton Boxall's Pee Wee B team and sponsored by OASIS Spa and Lounge, the Hockey for Hunger Challenge collected over 500 non-perishable food items to help stock the shelves at the all too busy Hamilton food bank. Each player and their families donated one or more food items per game over the course of the Challenge, with the winning team receiving a team pizza party and bragging rights until next year.
Special thanks go out to the girls on Novice Maroon team, Novice White team, PeeWee A team and Boxall's Pee Wee B team for their enthusiasm and generosity.in making the Hockey for Hunger Challenge such a success.
It was really amazing to see these young hockey players stepping up to help out those less fortunate during the holiday season. OASIS was honoured to be involved with this worthy cause and we look forward to next year's Challenge!
